Gamma Ray Recording Log for Oil Gas Drilling


Recording Ray Gamma is a process used to measure naturally occurring radioactivity under the ground. Because some types of rocks break down over time, they emit radiations in the form of gamma rays. There is a strong correlation between the activity of gamma rays and deposits of rocks rich in sediments and clay called shingles. The presence of shingles often serves as a solid indication that oil and natural gas are in the vicinity. Ray ray recording can also be used in some water extraction and drilling operations.

During gamma ray recording, geologists begin a deep hole hole to access the areas well below ground surface. To save, crews can also use existing holes and wells to complete the gamma rays test. Next, lower a cesium or sodium iodide probe below the surface by means of cables or ropes. The probe measures gamma rays at different depths, typically every few meters or meters. Depending on the scope of the operation, geologists and other crews can choose between two range of ray recording techniques. Common Logging provides only an indication of radioactivity but does not distinguish between different types. Spectral wavelength gamma rays recording measurements of each gamma ray to identify the different types of radiation. Generally, spectral recording procedures can measure potassium, thorium and uranium quantities separately. This allows mining and perforating crews searching for specific materials that are associated with each of these types of radioactivity.

In addition to using this technology to find oil and gas, geologists can also use gamma ray logging for a number of additional features. This process can be used to map the layers of the earth, and to determine the soil trick. It can also be used to find some minerals, metals and other products so that they can be extracted from the ground. In some cases, gamma ray recording can also be used to find safe areas for drilling wells so that they are free from radiation.

Ray ray recording is one of the many recording methods used to explore the area below the ground. Compared to alternative methods, however, it offers a number of advantages. The probe used in gamma ray recording can read radioactive waves through the walls of a tube or body, while other devices can not work through these structures. Gamma ray probes are also an economical and easy-to-use method of exploring depths under the ground without the need to invest in more expensive equipment.
