The operational impact of solids

The solids in the drilling mud has several implications for operations on drilling operations listed below;

Equivalent Circulating Density (ECD) - The DPE will be higher if higher solids content, whether high bulk gravity (HGS) and low bulk gravity (LGS). As you may know, excessive ECD lead to breakage and the formation of a question of lost circulation.

Differential Sticking - The cake may be thick and sticky, so there are plenty of low gravity solids in the drilling mud. When there is thick mud cake, you'll have a great potential for differential trapped in permeable formations.

Penetration Rate - A high concentration of solids will affect the overall rate of penetration. As you know, there are three solids added to the system. The first two are the material content and weighting of chemicals that we really need them in the drilling fluid.For this part, we can not reduce their content in the mud because they are essential properties of the mud. The latter is the drilling solids we are able to control by mechanical methods. Therefore, to maximize ROP, you need to control the amount of drilled solids in the mud.

Surge pressure rod / - Higher pressures are excessive and swab result of the large amount of solids in the fluid system.
